Test your custom SMTP connection

Before relying on a custom SMTP server, you can send a test email to confirm the connection works. This article covers testing your SMTP configuration.

Testing a connection

  1. Go to Admin Console → Mail Settings → SMTP Settings and select the sending method you want to test.
  2. Fill in its required fields (Host, Port, Username, etc. for Custom SMTP).
  3. Click Test connection.

A status badge next to the button shows Not tested, Testing…, Connected ✓, or Failed with the exact error message returned by the server.

Notes per method

  • Default SMTP needs nothing from you — it tests edoro's own credentials and your trial status.
  • Gmail and Microsoft can only be tested once the account is connected; the Test connection button stays disabled until then.
  • Custom SMTP requires at least Host and Username filled in before the button becomes active.

Saving with Custom SMTP

When Custom SMTP is the active method, clicking Save changes automatically runs a connection test first — if it fails, your settings are not saved and the connection status strip shows the error, so a broken SMTP configuration can't be saved silently.
