Configure stage notifications

Each stage can be configured to send its own notifications to reviewers and stakeholders. This article covers configuring stage notifications.

Where to find it

Open the stage card and select the Notifications panel. The intro line changes by stage type: "Which events should ping reviewers?" for approval stages, or "Which events should notify assignees?" for production stages.

Available notification toggles

Each is an independent on/off switch:

  • New proof or version uploaded (labeled "New version uploaded" on production stages) — notify when a new version of the asset arrives.
  • Stage becomes active — the invite/notification sent when this stage starts.
  • A decision is made (labeled "Stage marked complete" on production stages) — notify others when someone decides (approval) or when the stage is marked complete (production).
  • Stage outcome reached — everyone is notified once the stage's final status is set. This toggle is only shown on approval stages; it's hidden for production stages.
  • Someone comments — notify on new comments. This is also approval-only (hidden for production stages) and is off by default, since comment notifications can get noisy on active stages.

Defaults

New stages start with New version, Stage becomes active, Decision made, and Outcome reached all on, and Comments off. Adjust per stage to match how much noise is appropriate — a fast-turnaround internal stage might want fewer notifications than a client-facing sign-off stage.

These are per-stage settings. For a workflow-wide reminder that nags reviewers who haven't responded yet (separate from these event notifications), see Set workflow-level reviewer reminders.
