Configure stage due dates (fixed date vs duration)
A stage's due date can be set as a fixed calendar date or as a duration relative to when the stage starts. This article covers configuring both modes.
Setting a due date
Open the stage card and select the Due date panel. The intro line explains the purpose: "Set a deadline for alerts. Stage stays open until all decisions are in." — the due date drives reminders and the "overdue" state, it doesn't itself force the stage to close. Choose one of:
- No due date — open-ended, no deadline tracked.
- Fixed date — a specific day and time. Pick a date and time; your workspace's timezone is used.
- Duration — a relative window (a number plus a unit: hours, business days, or days), calculated from the moment this specific stage activates rather than from a fixed calendar date.
Fixed date fields
When Fixed date is selected, set the date and time. This is a single absolute deadline that doesn't move based on when the stage actually starts.
Duration fields
When Duration is selected, enter a number and choose a unit (hours / business days / days). The deadline is calculated from when this stage activates — so the same template can be reused across projects with the due date shifting automatically to match each project's timeline.
Starter templates default every stage to a Duration due date matching the stage's typical turnaround (e.g. a 3-day design stage, a 1-day sign-off stage) — you can change any of these after picking a starter.
