Carry proof comments forward to a new version

When you upload a new proof version, existing comments can be carried forward so context isn't lost. This article covers how comment carry-forward works.

Carrying comments forward

  1. Open the Comments tab on a proof that has unresolved comments on a previous version. A banner appears: "N unresolved comment(s) on vX — Bring them forward to vY so reviewers see them in the current cycle."
  2. Select Carry forward.
  3. Confirm the dialog, which explains that each unresolved comment from the source version will be copied into the target version, keeping the original author, timestamp anchor, and date.

What stays behind

The original comments remain on the source version as a historical record — carrying forward copies them onto the new version rather than moving them. Only unresolved, top-level comments are carried forward; resolved comments and replies are not copied.

Requirements

You need the Bring forth comment permission to carry comments forward.
