Archiving, trashing, and restoring a project

Projects that are no longer active can be archived or trashed without permanently losing their data right away. This article covers the difference between archiving and trashing, and how to restore a project.

Archive vs. Trash

  • Archive — for projects you're done with but want to keep around for reference. An archived project is hidden from your main Projects list but isn't deleted; it can be unarchived at any time.
  • Trash — for projects you actually want gone. A trashed project is removed from view and automatically, permanently deleted after 30 days unless you restore it first.

Archiving or unarchiving

Open the ··· menu on a project card and choose Archive (confirm with Archive project?). To bring it back, use the same menu on an archived project and choose Unarchive.

Moving a project to Trash

From the ··· menu, choose the delete option. You'll be asked to confirm — Move to Trash? — since the project "will be moved to Trash. You can restore it or permanently delete it from there." Trashing a project requires the Delete project permission.

Restoring or permanently deleting from Trash

Go to the Trash page. Projects, folders, and assets you've trashed are listed together, each with Restore and Delete Permanently buttons. You can also Restore All or Empty Trash in bulk. A banner reminds you that trashed items are automatically and permanently deleted after 30 days — after that point, restoring is no longer possible.

If a folder inside a trashed project is also in Trash, restore the project itself first; folders can't be restored out from under a still-trashed project.
