Reviewer Response Time
The Reviewer Response Time card on the VR Dashboard tracks how quickly reviewers respond once a proof is assigned to them. This article covers how to read the card and what it means for your team.
This is a read-only metric tile — there's no setup step, it just reflects reviewer behavior as it happens.
What it measures
Reviewer Response Time is the average number of hours between a workflow stage being activated and a reviewer submitting their decision, averaged across all recorded decisions in your workspace.
How to read it
- The headline number is the average response time, in hours.
- A warn marker appears past 24 hours, and critical past 72 hours.
- The card also flags ghost approvals — decisions submitted in under 2 minutes of the stage being activated. A handful of these is normal, but if more than 10% of decisions come in that fast, the card treats it as a risk signal even if the average response time otherwise looks fine, since it can indicate reviewers rubber-stamping rather than actually reviewing.
- The card needs at least 10 reviewer decisions with a recorded response time before it shows a value.
Why it matters
Slow response times are one of the most common causes of a stretched-out Review Cycle Time. Watching this card alongside the ghost-approval count helps you tell the difference between "reviewers are backed up" and "reviewers are approving without really looking" — two very different problems with different fixes.
