Hot Folder action

The Hot Folder automated action watches a folder and hands files it finds there off to a destination, either dropping the asset off (fire-and-forget) or running a full send-out/pick-up round trip.

Setting it up​

  1. Go to Admin Console → Content → Actions. Under Default actions, find Hot Folder and click Manage presets.
  2. Type a name for the preset and click Configure & save.
  3. In the dialog, choose a mode:
    • Fire and forget — only an input folder is needed; the file is dropped in and the action is done.
    • Process and pull — also set an output folder (where the processed result is picked up from), an optional error folder, an output filename pattern (supports {{filename}}/{{ext}} placeholders, with a live preview), a poll interval (30 seconds, 1 minute, or 5 minutes), and a timeout (15 minutes up to 2 hours) to wait for the processed file before giving up.
  4. Save the preset.
  5. Go to Admin Console → Content → Workflows, open the workflow, and expand the stage you want it on.
  6. Open the Actions panel, choose On stage start or On stage complete, click + Add Action, and select Hot Folder.
  7. Choose the preset you created (or create a new one from here).
