Chatting with the AI assistant
The AI assistant is a chat panel built into edoro that can look things up and take actions in your workspace — creating and updating projects, moving assets, changing statuses, managing tasks — based on a plain-language request. This article covers opening the panel and sending your first message.
Opening the assistant
- Click the message icon in the top-right corner of the header (tooltip: Open Assistant). A badge shows the number of messages in your current conversation.
- The panel slides in from the right. If you haven't chatted yet, you'll see a short set of example prompts you can click to get started, such as "Show me all active projects" or "Create a new project called "Q4 Campaign"".
- Type your request in the text box at the bottom and press Enter to send (use Shift+Enter for a new line).
What happens when you send a message
The assistant reads your message, decides what to do, and acts immediately — it doesn't just describe steps for you to follow yourself. If it needs to look something up first (for example, finding a project by name), it does that silently before acting. Its reply summarizes what it did; a small lightning-bolt indicator under the reply shows how many actions were taken.
Continuing or clearing a conversation
- The assistant remembers the current conversation, so you can send follow-up messages that refer back to what you just asked.
- Click Clear in the panel header to start a fresh conversation. This also clears the conversation from your browser's local storage.
- Conversations are kept locally for a couple of days and then age out automatically.
Limits
- Each user can send a limited number of messages per day. If you hit the daily limit, the assistant tells you and you can try again the next day.
- Using the assistant requires the Allow tokens permission. If your role doesn't have it, the panel explains this and suggests contacting your workspace admin.
